Đặt câu hỏi không chỉ là một công cụ giao tiếp thông thường mà còn là nền tảng quan trọng giúp nhà tham vấn, nhà trị liệu khai thác thông tin, khám phá chiều sâu cảm xúc, nhận thức, và hành vi của thân chủ. Được sử dụng đúng cách, kỹ năng này có thể tạo nên sự thay đổi tích cực và mở ra những giải pháp mới cho vấn đề.

Khái niệm
Kỹ năng đặt câu hỏi trong tham vấn được định nghĩa là quá trình sử dụng các câu hỏi phù hợp nhằm:
- Thu thập thông tin chi tiết từ thân chủ.
- Khơi gợi nhận thức và cảm xúc tiềm ẩn.
- Tạo động lực thúc đẩy thay đổi.
- Duy trì dòng chảy tự nhiên trong cuộc trò chuyện.
Như Neukrug (2020) đã nhấn mạnh, câu hỏi là công cụ giao tiếp chủ đích giúp thân chủ hiểu rõ vấn đề, khơi dậy khả năng tự giải quyết và tiến tới sự thay đổi.
Các loại câu hỏi phổ biến trong tham vấn – trị liệu, các loại câu hỏi được phân chia theo mục đích và cách sử dụng, bao gồm:
Câu hỏi đóng và câu hỏi mở
Câu hỏi đóng: Dùng để thu thập thông tin cụ thể với câu trả lời ngắn gọn như “có” hoặc “không”.
Ví dụ: “Bạn có thường xuyên cảm thấy lo lắng không?”
Câu hỏi mở: Khuyến khích thân chủ bộc lộ cảm xúc, suy nghĩ sâu sắc hơn.
Ví dụ: “Bạn cảm thấy thế nào khi bị đồng nghiệp chỉ trích?”
Câu hỏi trực tiếp và gián tiếp
Trực tiếp: Đi thẳng vào trọng tâm, yêu cầu câu trả lời cụ thể.
Gián tiếp: Sử dụng ví dụ hoặc người thứ ba để làm giảm áp lực, phù hợp với những vấn đề nhạy cảm.
Câu hỏi phản hồi và làm rõ nhận thức
Phản hồi: Phản ánh lại nội dung và cảm xúc mà thân chủ đã chia sẻ để xác nhận thông tin và khuyến khích sự suy ngẫm.
Làm rõ nhận thức: Khám phá sự kết nối giữa suy nghĩ, cảm xúc, và hành vi.
Ứng dụng kỹ năng trong tham vấn
Kỹ năng đặt câu hỏi được triển khai qua ba giai đoạn chính của buổi tham vấn:
Xây dựng niềm tin: Sử dụng câu hỏi tìm thông tin chung để tạo không gian an toàn.
Ví dụ: “Bạn có thể kể sơ qua về hoàn cảnh gia đình hiện tại không?”
Khám phá vấn đề: Áp dụng các câu hỏi làm rõ nhận thức hoặc nâng cao hiểu biết để thân chủ nhìn nhận vấn đề sâu hơn.
Hướng đến giải pháp: Dùng câu hỏi lựa chọn hoặc dẫn dắt để định hướng thân chủ tới các quyết định cụ thể.

Lưu ý khi đặt câu hỏi
Tránh hỏi quá nhiều: Việc liên tục đặt câu hỏi có thể khiến thân chủ cảm thấy áp lực hoặc mất định hướng.
